SURF THE WATER

Located along the Coney Island boardwalk, adjacent to the current location of Luna Park, our pavilion project is an innovative blend of architecture and inter- active art. Using Al-generated imagery, we aim to merge the beach and ocean landscapes, creating a border-less, morphed environment that invites people to immerse themselves in a dynamic, ever-changing space.

The pavilion encourages interaction and engagement, designed to seamlessly blend entertainment with exploration. By harnessing the natural elements of the site, we transform the waves of the ocean into functional spaces through a modular system that continually evolves.

This system allows the pavilion to expand and contract, adapting to the environment and the needs of its visitors.

A key feature of the pavilion is its ability to visualize sound. By collecting the sounds of the ocean waves, the pavilion transforms them into visual and tactile experiences. These sounds are not only projected visually but also made tangible through various interactive elements, allowing visitors to touch and feel the essence of the water and sound.

Our design addresses thalassotherapy, the fear of the unknown and formless aspects of the ocean, by making these abstract elements more acceptable through different senses. By integrating color, depth, and density variations, we create a multi-sensory experience that is both intriguing and comforting. Visitors can engage with the pavilion through touch, visual, and potentially even taste experiences, making the water and sound more tangible and less intimidating.

Ultimately, the pavilion serves as a space for reflection, interaction, and enjoyment, blending the natural beauty of the ocean with cutting-edge technology and architectural innovation.
